Fascinating story about story! (At least you had the story. I hadn't done Ancient History at school so I was completely bemused at having to challenge and unpick stories I didn't know.)
I didn't realise that, Eleanor. I just couldn't cope with the massive amount of reading. Talking of stories, recently I read Pompeii (novel) by Robert Harris. I absolutely couldn't put it down.
Thanks, Jo. Yes, looking back, this teacher, Mrs Soper, was what we'd now call my mentor. Her husband had been a conscientious objector in WW2. He was a geography teacher and had written a book about witches in Lancashire.

Wow! I could feel your teacher’s passion in YOUR passion … powerful story

Wisdom being passed along the ages 💛
Great account of how difficult it is to change our stories. Looking forward to the next piece from Valerie.
